Our mission, as a collaborative multidisciplinary group, is to advance the field of cancer risk assessment and promote effective strategies for education, surveillance and cancer risk reduction.
Our Position
- Breast cancer risk assessment is important for the identification of women who will benefit most from methods focusing on reducing the threat of breast cancer to their health and survival.
- Objective risk assessment tools, including genetic testing, allow for classification of women into risk groups that facilitate the development and validation of methods designed to screen them appropriately and modify their risks.
- These efforts will contribute to decreasing the burden of breast cancer.
- Breast cancer risk assessment should be integrated into the care of women to identify individuals at increased risk and prompt appropriate referral for genetic evaluation and high risk management.
- ISC-RAM supports breast cancer risk assessment and seeks to develop tools to incorporate this into women’s health care in a manner that is accurate and feasible.
